The Fight Against COVID19
How you can protect yourself, your family and your business
We could never have imagined the impact that COVID19 would have on all of us, both personally and professionally and how quickly its effect dramatically changed the way in which we now socialise, work and operate. As we learn more about the virus – one thing is clear – as with all pathogens, cleanliness is our best bet in helping to contain the spread of the virus.
The virus can live up to 72 hours on plastic and stainless steel and can even survive in the air for up to 3 hours. This is extremely concerning as the economy attempts to build itself up, and as many of us return to work / or are in the midst of creating safe working environments for our employees.
The magic of steam cleaning is that it reaches such a level of temperature, it can safely clean and sanitise areas without the need for harsh and toxic chemicals. ‘There’s one thing that unites all living things: they’re killed by heat,’ explains microbiologist Jason Tetro. ‘Heat at temperatures over 77 degrees C is the best killer of bacteria and viruses, and the temperature of steam is much higher than that.’
Steam is also extremely versatile; it can reach difficult and minute areas (imagine the intricacies of a professional kitchen or factory or a community gym’s equipment and machinery). There are also several ways to use steam – from directly blasting surfaces to fogging, which tackles the germs lingering in the air.
Steam is tough cleaning without the scrubbing as steam easily lifts the dirt and it can be used on several surfaces and materials including upholstery.
The National Health Service also recommend using steam to sanitise areas such as bedding, mattresses and curtains.
